Overview :
Beginning at the point where the Sian Gad and Dhumdhar Kandi rivers converge, the Dhumdhar Kandi Pass Trek links the Tonnes Valley and the Bhagirathi Valley. In the past, villagers used this route to go to the more isolated parts of the Tonnes Valley. James Baillie was the first person to identify this pass in 1815, and in the same year, a party from West Bengal successfully passed it. The Dhumdhar Kandi Pass hike is located at an elevation of 5608 metres above sea level. The journey begins at Sankri base camp, which is the starting point for more than twenty-five other treks, and continues until it reaches trek Harsil in the Gangotri valley in Uttarkashi. The Yamuna Valley and the Ganaga Valley in Uttarakhand are separated by the Dhumdhar Kandi Pass, which is a mountain pass in India that is nestled between two of the country’s highest peaks. It served as a trading route between the valley of Ruinsara Tal and the valley of Harsil.

ITINERARY :
Drive to Sankri via Mussoorie, which is 220 km away. Visit the Kempty Falls, which are located 15 km away from Mussoorie. Continue the trip in the direction of Purola, which is situated at an elevation of 1,524 metres. It is also known as the “Gate to Har ki Dun” because of its location in the midst of a dense woodland region that is home to a variety of species, most notably the endangered snow leopard. Spend the night in the rest house or the tent provided in Sankri.
After breakfast, when everyone who is going on the trek is ready, we will travel to Taluka. Following their arrival at Taluka, we will immediately begins our trek in the direction of Cheludgad. The daytime trek is around 9 km long and takes approximately five hours to complete. The path has not been mapped out very precisely. At the beginning of the trip, you go through some pine trees, and then later on, you go through several villages. The locals are kind and inviting, and visitors are always welcome. Your nighttime stay will be spent in the tents that have been prepared for you here at Cheludgad. Dinner will be provided, and there will also be some fun activities planned.
Today, the trek is a total of 7 km long and you make significant progress up the hill today, and you finally get your first look of the thundering waterfall. Along the path that leads to Devsu Bugyal, there is an abundance of vegetation and animals. On the other side of the woodland is where the opening to the valley may be found. A breathtaking panorama of the snow-covered mountains can be seen from the valley. The day’s journey may often be completed in six to seven hours. Camping for the night will take place in the Devsu Bugyal. We set our tent in a location that provides a breathtaking panorama of the Devsu Bugyal.
Today, we will begin our hike to Ruinsara Lake, which is located at an elevation of 3500 metres. After a hearty breakfast and packing a lunch for the journey, hikers set off towards Ruinsara Lake first thing in the morning. Along the way, they are treated to breathtaking panoramas of snow-capped mountains, expansive valleys, and plunging waterfalls. And taking pleasure in one of the ways that the Ruinsara lake river. Ruinsara Tal is another beautiful lake that is surrounded by mountains. The camping spot at Ruinsara Lake is one of the most gorgeous in all of the Himalayas. Spend the night here after dinner and enjoy.
You will be trekking towards Kyarkoti Base Camp today, and once you get there, you will be able to get a glimpse of Black Peak, which is sure to have your blood pumping with excitement. The location of the camp is known as Kyarkoti, and it is a grassy area that is flanked on all sides by mountains and stones. From this vantage point, you will be treated to breathtaking panoramas of the Ruinsara Range, Mount Kalanag, Bandarpoonch, and Swargarohini (I), (II), and (III). The starting point for climbing Kyarkoti. Establish your bases of operations here, and use this time to formulate strategies for the road ahead and conquering obstacles. After finishing your meal, it’s time to turn in for the night.
The hike from Kyarkoti Advance Base Camp to Dharon Odari, which is your camp 01, begins today. You are going to make rapid climb, which will result in an increase in height. After arriving at the campground, put up your tents, have delicious meal and turn in for the night.

After you’ve slept for two nights in Dharon Odari (Camp 01), it’s time to go on to Camp 02, which is located 5,000 metres higher. After arriving at the campground, put up your tents, have delicious meal and turn in for the night.
The trek should get off to an early start, and a weather check should be done. Proceed in the direction of the pass and rise more steeply as you make your way up to Dhumdhar Kandi Pass, which is 5608 metres in elevation. You are need to transverse the humps, and the last stretch is quite steep; thus, you will need ropes to do so. If you get it to the summit, you will be rewarded with views of Bandarpoonch, Black peak, and Swargarohini that are unparalleled. Spend as little time as possible at the summit and get an early start on the descent since the terrain is steep at first but becomes less difficult further down. After you have arrived in the Gantrara or Ratiya camp, choose the area that is the most secure for setting up your tent, have some meal, and then rest for the night.
After breakfast, get moving quickly and leave the Ratiya camp to make your way to the Kyarkoti grasslands, where you slept the night before. Camps should be established there, and everyone should sleep here for the night after delicious dinner.
The descent from Kyarkoti to Dharian Gharat is a 7-kilometer-long journey that can be completed in around four to five hours. There will be delicious meals provided, and after that you will be allowed to set up your camps and sleep for the night here after dinner.
Beginning in Dharian Gharat, make your way towards Jhala, a quaint little settlement that serves as the trail’s terminus. A vehicle will be prepared for you from here all the way to Dehradun via Uttarkashi. This is the last day of your trek, say goodbye to new friends and family.
