Overview :
Kedartal, also known as “Shiva’s Lake,” is considered to be one of the most beautiful lakes in all of Uttarakhand. This pristine glacier lake may be found in the Uttarkashi area, which is located at a height of 4,980 metres (or 16,115 feet) above sea level. The melting of the Kedar ice mass creates the lake known as Kedar Tal, which in turn gives birth to the Kedar Ganga watercourse, which is an extremely significant tributary of the Bhagirathi watercourse. The 18 km hike from Gangotri to Kedartal is a challenging one. Due to its somewhat difficult terrain, the Kedartal walk is only suitable for experienced mountain trekkers who have prior mountain trekking experience. There is a good chance that Kedartal will be one of the most well-liked treks in Uttarakhand. Although it is notorious for having a challenging trek path, it is well known for having some of the most breathtaking vistas of snow-capped mountains, verdant valleys, and gushing waterfalls and watercourses. It should come as no surprise that the Kedartal Trek is one of the most lucrative treks in all of Uttarakhand. The walk across Kedartal is not recommended for everyone. The journey will not be easy. This indicates that one must possess a significant degree of physical fitness in order to complete the expedition. What you get in exchange for your efforts is a hiking experience that is absolutely otherworldly. The glacial Kedartal Lake is at the end of the hike’s ascent. When we go on our other hikes, we get to see some incredible mountain scenery.

ITINERARY :
The trip from Dehradun to Gangotri, which would take around ten to twelve hours, will be today’s travel destination. The trip is made more enjoyable by the breathtaking view of the Himalayan peaks in the distance. The legendary Seven Lakes are said to be located further up, on the summit of the mountain. The enchanting Bhagirathi River may be seen running through the middle of the town. The sacred Bhagirathi River may be found around one hundred metres away from the side of the road. The Bhagirathi River’s waters, which have their source in the Kedartal glacier, have been described as having a miraculously clean and chilly quality. Another side of the mountain, which rises over the bank of the river on the other side of the mountain, is where the town of Mukhba is located. From November through March, Gangotri is completely covered in snow, and the temperature may drop as low as -15 degrees Celsius. The river freezes over, and the majority of the Gangotir family relocate to Uttarkashi, where they rent modest apartments.
After you have crossed the brook, you will immediately be on the trail that leads to Bhoj Kharak. The trail winds its way through beautiful forests before beginning a difficult ascent that ultimately leads to Bhoj Kharak. In addition to that, you will go by the ashrams that belong to a number of different wise people. At a distance of two hundred metres, choose a route that ascends steeply and leads to another ashram perched on a ridge. This will lead you to the trail through the jungle that leads to Bhoj Kharak. First, owing to Bhoj Kharak, the trail begins to rise more steeply at this point. You can hear the rumbling of the Kedar Ganga stream as it flows by below you. On the tips of the branches of the fir trees that you come across while wandering through this woodland. After a five-hour walk into the forest, the trail finally emerges from the undergrowth. You will encounter your first “spider wall” or narrow walkway on a rock face that is very near to being vertical here. The trail only has room for one foot at a time to pass through at a time. You will be prepared to traverse this journey successfully if you focus on the next step specifically and don’t glance down. Continue climbing for a further fifteen minutes so that you may reach the second spider wall. If you get beyond here, the campsite will be within five minutes’ walking distance. Set up your tent and spend the night here.
In comparison to the ascent from the previous day, the journey from Bhoj Kharak to Kedar Kharak is quite easy. The plot of land offers consistent ascents and descents, despite the fact that there are some rough areas scattered across it. The journey to Kedar Kharak, which is situated at an elevation of 4,300 metres, is equal to four linear units and takes around five hours. The climb up from the campsite at Bhoj Kharak starts out slowly but quickly becomes rather steep. The campsite is located next to a large empty hayfield that has a few pebbles strewn around in a sparse manner close to a sizable creek. Getting a front row seat at Kedar Kharak for the sunset is a once in a lifetime experience. Because the red ball of fireplace recedes behind the snow-clad Bhrigupant, the whole hayfield takes on an orange hue during the day and takes on a grey colour during the evening crepuscule. Make your camp for the night here.
On this day, the level of excitement among the trekkers is often at its highest, with the eagerness to make it to the emerald lake soaking up any tiredness that may have been built up from the treks of the previous days. Start off early since this segment is going to be the most taxing of them all. The ‘Tal’ is a five-metric linear unit flowing from Kedar Kharak over the range, and there is almost no verdure surrounding it. It is located at a height of 16,116 feet. As you get more and more immersed in this otherworldly beauty, you will feel the weariness and strain of the journey leave your body. Spend some time in the area of Kedar Tal doing some exploration, and fill photo albums to the brim with memories to take with you. At Kedartal, the temperature drops by a significant amount. Even though the water is fairly chilly, dipping your fingers into the emerald-green lake is a once in a lifetime experience that is not to be missed. Before heading back to Kedar Kharak through the same path, you should linger for a moment here and take in the breathtaking panorama.
We will get up very early in the morning to catch the sunrise over Thalay Sagar and see the many colours cast by the rising sun as it rises over the water. The hard portion is over, and we are on our way back home! After breakfast, you should immediately begin your descent to Gangotri. The day is at your disposal to go about and take in the breathtaking views of the area. It will take roughly six to seven hours of hiking to get there. Going to an adventure camp is the ideal way to acquire all of these benefits since it forces people out of their comfort zones and encourages them to experiment with new activities. Spending the evenings in tents and participating in a variety of activities at the campsite is the essence of what it means to “trek camp.” Camping offers a wide variety of activities, all of which serve to bolster the experience’s level of excitement and intrigue.
