Overview :

Within the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary can be found the Phulara Ridge Trek. Phulara is one of the numerous pristine treks that can be found in the Uttarkashi district sanctuary. As you are probably aware of, there are many more treks as well. It is a unique ridge walk in Uttarakhand, but in contrast to other sites, this one has not been traversed by many people. This is what sets it apart from other locations. Since we brought the first class of “Woodstock school” to this picturesque location in 2003, not many people have been aware of this Himalayan jewel that is tucked away in the mountains. “The Phulara Ridge is also known as “the ridge of lovely flowers” in its native language. It may be found at the Govind wildlife sanctuary in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is a high altitude trip in the lower Himalayas, reaching an elevation of roughly 3,827 metres. In point of fact, Phulara Ridge is an example of a bugyal, which is a sort of wide-spread woodland. This place is lush with vegetation and a variety of lovely flowers throughout the year, including Brahmakamal and Fankamal. There are also many more varieties.

ITINERARY :

Drive to Sankri via Mussoorie, which is 220 km away. Visit the Kempty Falls, which are located 15 km away from Mussoorie. Continue the trip in the direction of Purola, which is situated at an elevation of 1,524 metres. It is also known as the “Gate to Har ki Dun” because of its location in the midst of a dense woodland region that is home to a variety of species, most notably the endangered snow leopard. Spend the night in the rest house or the tent provided in Sankri.

The initial part of the climb takes you through an absolutely stunning pine forest. The path is easy to follow and rather broad. After hiking for an hour and a half, you will reach a short bridge built of concrete. Keep your eyes and ears alert as you go through the trial since there will be a lot of birds.

You will witness drongos, also known as barbets, treepies, and woodpeckers, in addition to a great variety of other species. You may fill up your water bottles at the creek that runs down the hill. It’s in the same general area. From this vantage point, continue ascending for another 40 minutes. Along the path, there will be purple lilies and yellow marsh marigolds for you to see. The Gecko Rock is a massive and striking rock in its own right. It looks like a reptile that is standing upright with its head up. The path may be followed to reach the clearing in Sikolta. This is a lovely field with shattered Gujjar huts in the distance. You are free to set up your tents in the next clearing over. The location of the water source may be found to the right. Following the onset of the rainy season, the streams will be inundated.

It takes roughly a quarter of an hour to reach the summit from Sikolta by travelling through the forest. The woodland is full with trees and quite gloomy. Pay close attention to the fallen trees that might be found along the route. At the very end of the path, there is a bridge that can be seen. The path to the bridge consists of a quick descent followed by a strenuous climb through a constrained portion of the landslip terrain. This portion is perhaps about one hundred metres in length. The Dhunda Top is located atop this hill at its highest point. Following an easy ascent that lasts for fifteen minutes and an additional trip that goes for ten minutes to the left, the route brings you to an attractive meadow. This is your designated camping spot. The valley is traversed by the stream as it flows down. This is where you get your water from. You have the option of going on a stroll or acclimatisation hike all the way to the peak of the hill. You can get to the summit by a lengthy ridge that climbs up to the peak and then leads down to Kedarkantha. From this vantage point, you will get a clear view over the Purola area, as well as Swargarohini and Devkyara, Lekha Top, and Vijay Top. This campground provides an excellent opportunity to see breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.

A wonderful way to start the day is to make the ascent. It takes around half an hour to make the ascent to the highest point of the ridge. Along this path, you should be able to see a good number of Himalayan Monals. As I got closer to the hill on that particular day, I could make out seven Monals. The vantage point on the ridge provides a breathtaking panorama. Hanuman Top and Sarutal Top are the names of the summits, moving from right to left. To continue, turn right at this intersection. You may have some luck getting a signal from Vodafone if you go to the very top. There are a variety of routes that go up and down the mountain that you may take. Sarutal’s foothold must be traversed.

You will start out going down a little bit, and then you will gradually start going up. The decline may be seen to the right. In the far distance, behind the thicket of towering pines, one can make out the valley of Purola. You will be astounded by how extensive the meadows of Pushtara are. It is a wonderful place to set up a tent or a camp. If you go down the valley, you will find Taloti there. The glaciers’ retreat has resulted in the formation of a picturesque lake of average size. The right bank of Pushtara’s expansive lake has a great deal of water. The Gujjars have a quaint little cemetery that really chills the bones out. It is an excellent location for passing the night and regaling one another with tales.

During the first half an hour of the hike, you will be descending through the meadows. If you keep down for another half an hour, you will eventually reach the woodland. There are several really nice routes that may be used to go into the forest. It is a huge area, and if you walk off the track, it is easy to get disoriented and lose your way. The cover is well-lit, and the trees have plenty of space between them. In the future, you will find yourself engulfed by towering pine trees. It seems as if you are a very little person wandering through the woods. You can also tell you are getting close to society since there is very little logging activity. If you keep going down this route, you will eventually come across a path as well as a pipe that is collecting water from the stream. A huge water tank and several wooden cottages with stone roofs will be in view. This is a picture of Tumrikot. After roughly a half-hour of strolling through a picturesque community, you will arrive at the final destination of your hike. The quaint little town of Taluka is home to a handful of stores and restaurants. While reaching Taluka, you will now be transferred to Sankri by taxi/traveller.

The 6th and last day of the incredible trek through Phulara Ridge Trek is now behind you. Following breakfast, make your way back to Dehradun from Sankri. Say goodbye to nature and new friends, also promise to come back again soon.
