Borasu Pass Trek

Overview :
Uttarakhand attracts a large number of international hikers each year. It’s one of the Himalayas’ most adaptable hiking routes. The “Borasu Pass” is the name of the alternative route you’ll use to get there. Located between Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, not far from the border with Tibet, lies the high mountain pass known as Borasu Pass in the Uttarakhand Himalayas. Historically, it was used as a connection between Har Ki Doon and the valley of Kinnaur. This mountain pass links the valleys of the Tonnes and Baspa rivers in Uttarakhand. The hikers must negotiate their way across a treacherous landscape of rocks, mountains, and rivers. There are both snowy mountains and lush grasslands. As we climb, we have a beautiful view of the Har Ki Dun valley, but getting there is a pain. While the campgrounds aren’t quite luxurious, they get the job done, and the experience will teach you to appreciate each day for what it brings. In exchange, from the Borasu Pass, we may take in the breathtaking scenery of Marinda Tal and the nearby mountains of Kala Nag, Bandarpoonch, and Swargarohini. There are steaming rivers to cool down in along the route. The hike across Borasu Pass is a serious challenge for serious hikers. Our chances of seeing wild animals at Har Ki Dun valley are excellent because we’ll be in the expansive Govind Pashu Vihar Wildlife Sanctuary. Along the way, devotees may stop at the well-known Someshwar Temple.

Continue the trip in the direction of Purola, which is situated at an elevation of 1,524 metres. It is also known as the “Gate to Har ki Dun” because of its location in the midst of a dense woodland region that is home to a variety of species, most notably the endangered snow leopard. Spend the night in the rest house or the tent provided in Sankri.
After breakfast, when everyone who is going on the trek is ready, we will travel to Taluka. Following their arrival at Taluka, we will immediately begins our trek in the direction of Cheludgad. The daytime trek is around 9 km long and takes approximately five hours to complete. The path has not been mapped out very precisely. At the beginning of the trip, you go through some pine trees, and then later on, you go through several villages. The locals are kind and inviting, and visitors are always welcome. Your nighttime stay will be spent in the tents that have been prepared for you here at Cheludgad. Dinner will be provided, and there will also be some fun activities planned.
Today the trek is a total of 7 km long and you make significant progress up the hill today, and you finally get your first look of the thundering waterfall. Along the path that leads to Har Ki Dun, there is an abundance of vegetation and animals. On the other side of the woodland is where the opening to the valley may be found. A breathtaking panorama of the snow-covered mountains can be seen from the valley. The day’s journey may often be completed in six to seven hours. Camping for the night will take place in the valley of Har Ki Dun. We set our tent in a location that provides a breathtaking panorama of the Har Ki Dun.
After we have finished our breakfast for the day, we will begin our ascent of Ratta Dho, also known as Lal Patthar. The path is about 8 km long and may be finished in between four and five hours. As you go through Har Ki Dun and look to its right, you can see the Ganges River flowing below you. The mucky section of the path is followed by some grassy areas of the trail. At this vantage point, you will be treated to a breathtaking panorama of the Swargarohini and Hata Peak with clear blue sky serving as a backdrop. As we make our way through the stones, we are rewarded with a breathtaking panorama of the valley below. The valley takes us to a little lake that locals either name Maninda or Marinda Tal. The lake receives its water supply from the stream that originates in the Borasu Glaciar. It has a location between large boulders and is encircled by mountains on all sides. After a prolonged climb, you will reach Rattha Dho, also known as Lal Patthar, which is your camping spot. The fabled crimson rock known as the ‘lal patthar’ is today’s planned excursion location. Given its height and location in front of the ice sheet, the wind is highly gusty there. You may quit your positions here and set up your camps just in time for the evening.
The ascent for the day is somewhat strenuous. In the space of roughly five to six hours, we travel a distance of about six to seven km. The trail is littered with rocks of varying sizes, some of which are rather large. The journey throughout the last portion is really taxing. When we get to the lower portions of the Borsu Glacier, we have to cross the streams. The hike is taken at a leisurely pace in order to give hikers time to adjust to the changing altitude. The campground for the night is located in Lamjung. Even in the month of June, it is possible to see snow on the highest summits. The path is treacherous, therefore in order to avoid any mishaps it is imperative that you adhere to the directions given by the trip leader. There is a chance that the snow may be icy. It is in your best interest to traverse this region in the same manner that the team does, which involves using a variety of different tools. Upper Lamjung is the name of the camp that is located at the foot of the Borsu Pass Glacier. This is where the overnight stay will take place.
We will do an early start on today’s part of the journey since it’s going to be a long and exhausting day. Have your breakfast and get started as soon as you can. You will need to persevere through this section despite the significant tremors that are occurring. Make use of your ice hatchet to hack through the treacherous day and go ahead. At this time, continue to climb by crossing any soak edges that you come across and arriving at the left edge. When you get there, you’ll see snow covering the summits of the white mountains, as well as the fields and the frozen mass. Relax in the Bonga camp, enjoy your meal, and take some time to relax in your tent.
The 7th and last day of the incredible trek through Borasu Pass Trek is now behind you. Following breakfast, make your way back to chitkul village and then to Dehradun from Sankri. Say goodbye to nature and new friends, also promise to come back again soon.
